GUVI has offered to teach coding skills to over 1,000 youngsters backed by Non-Governmental Organizations by providing free access to its gamified programming practice platform, HackerKid. The company is also creating the ‘Sridevi Arunprakash Innovation Award,’ which includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, to recognize aspiring women entrepreneurs in the Ed-tech business.

Alumni from IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad collaborated to provide free skill training to 5000 kids from low-income families. The graduates founded the startup – GUVI launched a new initiative dubbed ‘Fly High.’

Students will receive free access to vernacular tech courses, industry experts’ mentorship services, and skills training to make them job-ready as part of the initiative.

Students from low-income families or with an annual family income of less than Rs 3 lakhs are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Students must have graduated in 2020, 2021, or 2022 with a CGPA of 7 or higher.

The start-up is also creating the ‘Sridevi Arunprakash Innovation Award,’ which includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh to honor aspiring female entrepreneurs who have made significant contributions to the Ed-tech industry. An eminent team of EdTech industry luminaries will decide the award winner by investing.

In memory of its late co-founder Sridevi Arunprakash, who said, “Education is priceless; no one can steal it from you” and “Focus on improving, not proving,” GUVI has pledged to impart coding skills by providing free access to its gamified programming practice platform, HackerKid, to over 1,000 children supported by Non-Governmental Organizations such as BalaMandir Kamaraj Trust.
