After the ECB requested a couple of players because of Covid concerns with two County XI players, India decided to put Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar in the County Select XI team. On Tuesday, Avesh, the right-arm seamer, and Sundar, the off-spinning all-rounder, will play for the County XI against the Indians in a three-day warm-up match at Chester-le-Street in Durham.
The three-day warm-up match between India and the County Select XI has been designated a first-class match, meaning no changes may be made after the toss. However, the practice match being the last opportunity to assess the bench strength before the five-match Test series against England begins on August 4, the Indian think tank had little difficulty in selecting Avesh and Sundar to lead the County XI team.
Avesh and Sundar, on the other hand, will remain in the Indian bubble, which means they will spend their breaks in the Indian dressing room rather than the County side.

Rishabh Pant, the regular goalkeeper, and Wriddhiman Saha, the senior reserve goalkeeper, are now isolated in London following the COVID scare but are likely to rejoin the team before the intra-squad game set for the Riverside ground in the last week of this month. The dates are provisionally set for July 26-28.
While Kohli, Rahane, and Shami have all returned from a three-week vacation, playing a first-class match requires all seniors to be on the field for a set amount of time.
The game also allows Hanuma Vihari to score a few runs and put Rahane under pressure, as he hasn’t been scoring runs consistently.
