IIT Delhi and Business Sweden have joined together to promote clean air and renewable energy

Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, and Cecilia Oskarsson, Trade and Invest Commissioner of Sweden in India, signed the agreement. The co-creation of future generation solutions by business and academics and cooperation at the university level are the three key focus areas of this relationship.

Swedish Trade and Invest Council and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have worked to increase cooperation in clean air and green energy and find reciprocal collaboration prospects, promote new solutions for industry and academia to the world of business and academia.

V Ramgopal Rao, Director of IIT Delhi and Cecilia Oskarsson of Sweden, Trade and Invest Commissioner in India, inked the agreement.

An IIT Delhi statement stated that Professor V Ramgopal Rao spoke about the need for clean energy that India needs to achieve its target pledged at COP26, Glasgow, and to bring its economy’s carbon intensity down to 45 percent by 2030 and fulfill 50 percent of its energy requirement through renewable energy by 2030.

According to the joint statement, industry-academia collaboration for the co-creation of future generation solutions and university-level collaborations for knowledge and student exchange are two of the three key focus areas of this engagement.

Beyond clean air and energy, Professor Rao stressed the importance of working together on smart grids and battery storage technologies to help the world move away from a coal-based economy and toward a renewable energy economy in the long term. It was also brought up that IIT Delhi is home to a wide range of start-ups in several fields of technology, all of which provide a wealth of potential for collaboration with the Swedish sector.

Sweden’s Trade and Invest Commissioner Cecilia Oskarsson proposed academic exchange programs, cooperation with innovative solutions providers from Sweden, and university level collaborations with IIT Delhi, including joint research and development projects in clean air, energy, and environment urban development.
