IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi had invited professors to collaborate on research

A joint project between IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi that faculty members from both schools were asked to work on together. External experts have now chosen five of those projects to get a seed grant from a fund for new projects. Nanotechnology and nanostructures are two of the projects. They look at how the brain works and how anxious people are.

  • The two institutes had earlier inked an MoU to establish a cooperation platform for mutual benefit in academics, research, and human resource development.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi want to encourage cross-functional research to lead to significant results for the country. They have asked for joint research projects from faculty from both institutions. An outside panel of experts has now chosen five of those projects to get a seed grant.

The projects range from studying how the human brain works to making nanodevices. Ramanujam’s math theories, Femtech and its future in India, and model-agnostic evaluation of deep-model transfer are other projects that the committee has chosen to look into more.

Later this year, the two institutions signed an agreement to work together for the benefit of both. They wanted to start a wide range of academic, research, and human resource development partnerships that would greatly impact society.

Director of IIT Delhi V Ramgopal Rao said, “At IIT Delhi, we put a lot of emphasis on interdisciplinary research because we think that the future of science and technology is going to happen when different fields come together.” In 2017, IIT Delhi started a project called MFIRP, which brought together many of Delhi’s top universities and made it possible for our researchers to work together on paid projects. The results are outstanding.

Research is becoming more and more cross-disciplinary, said the director of IIIT Delhi, Ranjan Bose. This unique collaboration between IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi has already brought together faculty members from both institutions, inspiring them to find common interest problems, exchange expertise, and build personal relationships. We hope that this collaboration will help change the way technology and new research are done.
