Key Highlight:

  • The Centre for Indian Knowledge System and the Centre for Nanotechnology (CNT) were inaugurated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday.
  • The Union Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology provided the bulk of the money for the center, including 37 crores for the construction of the facility and equipment (MeitY)
  • Two new dorms for a combined 132 crore have been built at IIT Guwahati

IIT Guwahati’s Centre for Nanotechnology (CNT) and the Centre for Indian Knowledge System (CIKS) launched Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday.

To face future problems and strengthen academic-industry ties in nanotechnology, the CNT was established.

The Union Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology provided the bulk of the money for the center, including 37 crores for the construction of the facility and equipment (MeitY).

Pradhan congratulated Guwahati’s Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, on its excellent rankings in various international and national ranking systems. He praised the efforts of the authorities to create an ecosystem for research and education with a focus on the North-East region’s overall development.

“The region’s rich biodiversity offers a wealth of research opportunities that can benefit all of humanity. The NEP 2020 outlines various policy directions for modernizing our educational system.

Creating a cluster of educational institutions in Guwahati, as outlined in the National Education Policy, is what Mr. Pradhan recommended.

At the CNT, there will be 25 labs that will focus on multi-disciplinary and scientific research advancement.

The MeitY and the Indian Council of Medical Research are now sponsoring two centers of excellence in the area.

To preserve, document, and preserve the information that is unique to India, the Center for Indian Knowledge System has been established to achieve just that.

Priority areas include Indian classical music, yoga and Sanskrit language, as well as traditional remedies, temple architecture, ceramics, and the North-East region’s unique agricultural techniques and herbal plant varieties.

In addition, two new dorms at the top technical institute were dedicated by Mr. Pradhan.

IIT Guwahati’s capacity has been increased by 1,000 rooms thanks to the construction of the Disang hostel.

The Dikhow hostel is the first of its kind on campus dedicated to housing project workers.

To assist the IIT Guwahati campus grow, new dormitories for a combined 132 crore have been built.

Minister Ranoj Pegu said the institute should focus on entrepreneurship and produce job creators, not just job seekers, rather than just job seekers.

Universities like IIT Guwahati should also develop new agricultural technologies to assist farmers in doubling their revenue. ” Asked if Guwahati’s IIT Guwahati could serve as a mentor to other educational institutions in the region, he replied, “Yes.”
