Cooperation between India and Sweden in the energy industry will contribute to the country’s objective of having a fossil-fuel-free economy. India, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, is looking for renewable energy technology options. The two administrations called for a circular economy that incorporates health science and waste to wealth. The two countries’ prime ministers requested on March 5, 2021, during a bilateral meeting. Both sides have suggested funding for 22 initiatives, including three collaborative ones.

To establish a School of Medical Research and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, the institute and JK Cement Limited have built a super specialty hospital on-campus (SMRT).

To work on the project, IIT Kanpur and JK Cement Limited signed a collaboration agreement, and JKCL provided funding of Rs 60 Crore as part of its corporate social responsibility. Signatories to the agreement included IIT Kanpur Director Abhay Karandikar and JK Cement Ltd CEO Raghavpat Singhania. According to a press release from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, medical research and innovation in India will undergo a paradigm shift with this agreement. Y. Singhania Memorial Super Specialty Hospital has been named Yadupati Singhania, an IIT Kanpur B.Tech. Civil Engineering alumnus from 1975.

In two phases, the project will be completed. To begin, construction will include a 400-bed super specialty hospital and academic residential and service blocks totaling about 7,00,000 square feet. It will also establish Centers of Excellence (CoE) for future medical research and development, with completion within the next three to five years. There will be 1000 beds in the hospital’s Phase II and an expansion of clinical departments/centers and research areas. This phase will also include paramedical disciplines, alternative medicine, hospital management, and a public health program.

Associated with the School of Medical Research and Technology, the proposed hospital will play a significant role in propelling medical research and technology innovations at IIT Kanpur.”
