These JEE Advanced results are good news for those who did well in the exam yet are interested in exploring other options when they graduate.

Since this academic year will begin in October of 2021, IIT Hyderabad will offer industry-oriented BTech programs for the first time in three areas: biotechnology & bioinformatics, computational engineering, and industrial chemistry.

The new BTech program allows students to take courses in arithmetic, physics, and chemistry in the first two semesters. In addition to the Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Computational Engineering & Industrial Chemistry curriculum, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the subject by taking elective courses from any other department and can also get a minor in areas of their interest, outside the department, like entrepreneurship, computer science, etc., by completing 12 additional credits in that area.

Sixth-semester students have the option of choosing semester-long projects that give them the chance to work and develop experience in Biotech/Pharma/Manufacturing/IT/Data Analysis/Chem Informatics and helps them gradually transition to full-time jobs.

It is our belief at IIT Hyderabad that our undergraduate and postgraduate programs should be career-oriented. These industry-oriented BTechs are a step in the right way because they are created with the future and current demands of the business in mind. Aspiring BTech researchers and students will be spoilt for choice among national and international colleges. “

Prof Anindya Roy, who added the merits of the BTech in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics program, explained that “the curriculum is designed to train students with in-demand bioinformatics skills, including AI and soft computing, web technologies, structural biology, biological data mining, image processing, modelling and simulation, systems biology, and biostatistics to ensure complete industry readiness of the students.”

According to Prof. Raja Banerjee, Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, “Students of Computational Engineering will receive an interdisciplinary education where they gain expertise in state-of-the-art numerical methods and algorithms, modelling and simulations of engineering systems and processes, high-performance computing, process control and optimization, data analytics and machine learning.”

Prof Satyanarayana G, Head – Department of Chemistry, IIT Hyderabad added, “We have designed a unique 4-year BTech Program with particular emphasis on producing the finest graduate students with adequate knowledge of applied chemistry and technology to work in various industries like pharmaceutical and drug design, polymer industry, petrochemical industries, environment, and energy, etc.”
