NRAI will investigate the flop show of India’s shooters in the Tokyo Olympics

The Indian shooters finished their Olympic campaign without winning a medal at the Tokyo Games. The regulatory authority has agreed to look into the performance, or lack thereof, as soon as possible after receiving the complaint. India has two more events left in the Games before they depart for Rio de Janeiro. Raninder Singh, the president of the NRAI, claims that he has no reasons to provide. Manu Bhaker and Jaspal Rana, according to Raninder Singh, are experiencing a gap in their relationship.

Raninder was alluding to a rumored disagreement between the two men’s World Cup team-mates during the recent tournament in Tokyo. Ronak Pandit, a former Indian shooter, has taken over as Rana’s replacement as coach.

Bengaluru, July 27: The Indian shooters finished their Tokyo Olympics campaign without winning a medal in the 10m Air Pistol and 10m Air Rifle individual and team competitions. The final nail in the coffin came on Tuesday when they were eliminated from the mixed team competition (July 27).

It was clear that India’s shooters failed not live up to the high expectations that had been placed on them in the run-up to the Tokyo Olympics. For the first time since the 1996 Games, no Indian shooters qualified for the finals of the individual 10M Air Pistol and 10M Air Rifle competitions, and the extent of the collapse has taken the National Rifle Association of India by surprise (NRAI).

The fact that India still has a couple of events left in the Tokyo Olympics has done nothing to alleviate the shock. The regulatory authority has agreed to look into the performance, or lack thereof, as soon as possible after receiving the complaint.

“I’m not going to make any excuses. If you look at shooters like Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary, you will see that they have done exceptionally well in different tournaments, including the World Championships, in the lead-up to the Olympics. However, what happened here (in Tokyo) is a serious setback for all of us. We will look into it and take the appropriate actions as soon as possible “Raninder Singh, the president of the NRAI, spoke to MyKhel from Tokyo.

Raninder, on the other hand, was not prepared to throw all of the blame on the members of the shooting contingent. “See, these shooters are really young, and many of them are competing in their first Olympics, and we must consider the amount of strain they are under competing in such prestigious competitions. That’s the only explanation I can come up with (for non-performance). We have provided them with all of the available resources during these difficult times, so I believe it was a matter of managing the strain. We conducted an assessment following the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and we will do a comparable honest analysis very soon and implement corrective actions “he explained.

Is there going to be a change in the coaching staff after the Olympics? “We still have a number of events remaining in the Games to look forward to. All we can do now is sit back and wait to see what happens. With regard to coaching staff, it is confident that we will do all is necessary to improve from this point. Prior to the Olympics, there were some internal disagreements between coaches and shooters, but these were resolved prior to the competition, and I can state that the team traveled to Croatia and Tokyo as a unit throughout the process. The statements I made earlier will be scrutinized since there are no excuses for poor performance, as I stated earlier “He went on to say more.

As Raninder noted, the apparent rift between Manu Bhaker and former Olympian-turned-coach Jaspal Rana was being alluded to in his statement. Rana did not fly to Tokyo because Ronak Pandit, a former Indian shooter, has taken over as the team’s coach.
