Samsung Galaxy A72 – launched in India: Price and features

It’s not common for Samsung to keep an Unpacked Event for its mid-range devices, but that changes today when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A72 alongside the A52.

The number of upgrades these phones bring over their predecessors is nothing short of amazing so let’s take a look at 5 of those features of the Galaxy A72 that are typically reserved for its flagship phones.

Galaxy A72 has a 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display at 6.7″.

Higher refresh rate displays make the moving content look smoother and snappier and make the most noticeable difference in gaming.

They are increasingly popular in modern smartphones, particularly in the premium market.

So it’s nice to see Samsung making this available in affordable mid-tier handsets as well.

Not only that, the display can go up to 800 nits of brightness, so outdoor viewing isn’t an issue at all.

Stereo speakers aren’t as common as they ought to be, perhaps due to the trend of bezel-less phones.

Samsung’s flagships have this feature already, but it’s the first time Samsung is bringing stereo speakers to the Galaxy A range of devices.

If you have experienced or lived with a stereo-speaker phone even briefly, you know that adding an extra audio channel can make your audio experience more immersive.

Plus, the Galaxy A72 will also have Dolby atmos so that the audio experience will be even more immersive.

The camera is arguably the biggest upgrade we see on the Galaxy A72.

Samsung includes a 3x optical zoom camera in that quad camera setup.

This can also do 30x space zoom, which has remained exclusive to Samsung’s flagship phone until now.

Not only that, but there’s also optical image stabilization built-in, which will make sure you get steady video as well as blur-free photos.

This also helps take better night photos.

The main sensor is 64MP, and the phone has pro video mode built in this time again, which was reserved for the company’s flagship smartphones.

So if you want control over how the phone should record the video, then the pro video mode is for you.

Also, Samsung has partnered with Snapchat to bring custom filters right into the stock camera app.

The Galaxy A72 also features an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance which means you can submerge the phone underwater for up to 30 minutes in 1 meter deep.

The A72 has a mammoth 5000mAh battery that can easily last the phone a whole day without refilling in between.

In fact, Samsung says it can deliver 2 days’ worth of juice with a single charge which is a little exaggerated, but you can comfortably go a whole day with this battery.

25W charging is supported, too, though Samsung will only ship a 15W charger in the box.

Finally, the Galaxy A72 will have 3 years of major Android updates and 4 years of security updates making the handset one of the best options in the midrange segments.

Samsung has priced this handset lower than its predecessor, even while offering these big upgrades is highly appreciated.
