Technology developed by IIT Guwahati to standardize EVs for India

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has come up with a way to rate the motors and batteries of electric cars, and it works. It tells original equipment manufacturers (OEM) which drivetrain parts are best for the Indian situation. This study is trying to cut down on pollution and fuel use.

Key Highlight:

  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has come up with a way to rate the motors and batteries of electric vehicles (EV) and help original equipment manufacturers (OEM) choose the best parts for the Indian market.
  • Unique: This is the only way to make all-electric vehicles on Indian drive-cycles the same.
  • The drive cycles that have been made are not focused on rural and urban drive cycles.
  • The team at IIT Guwahati was interested in the Indian climate in rural and urban areas.
  • Drive-cycles made by the IIT Guwahati team are unique and can’t be found anywhere else.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has come up with a way to rate the motors and batteries of electric vehicles (EV) and help original equipment manufacturers (OEM) choose the best parts for the Indian market.

Unique: This is the only way to make all of the electric vehicles on Indian drive-cycles the same.

So far, no one has looked into Indian drive-cycles. The drive cycles that have been made are not focused on rural and urban drive cycles. The electric cars that are currently on the market don’t take into account the different climates in India.

Currently, no one makes cars with this kind of technology. They’ve been asking for the drive-cycle data of Indian cars. This study aims to make better and more efficient drivetrains based on different parts of the world. This is also good for start-ups. This study is trying to cut down on pollution and use less fuel.

The recent fires in Ola electric scooters have also made Indians think about the safety of EV batteries.

The team at IIT Guwahati was interested in the Indian climate in both rural and urban areas. They came up with a way to figure out which drivetrain to make. Drive-cycles made by the IIT Guwahati team are unique and can’t be found anywhere else.

An electronic drivetrain (a group of parts that deliver power to the drive wheels) that was made in a humid area doesn’t work the same in a dry NS colder area. Because of this, the OEMs are now thinking about making standard drive cycles for Indian conditions.

“In order for the country to have a long-term future and cut down on its carbon footprint, a lot of progress needs to happen in the field of new energy-efficient electric vehicles. This new development will make this process even better and make the results even better “Statement: IIT Guwahati Director Prof T. G. Sitharam said this in a statement. This is what he said.

“For us, the main goal is to write a document that can help newcomers get into the EV market and level the playing field for everyone. The other main benefit of this whole thing is that it will help the next generation of technologists get ready for a great job in EV technology anywhere in the world “It was the work of Praveen Kumar, a professor of electronics and electrical engineering at the university. He led the research in that department.

The researchers are also working on making this technology work for four-wheelers, even though this project is only about two-wheelers.
