Initiative: IIT will Offer Lectures, Online Seminars, Laboratory Demos to School Students

For high school kids, IIT-Delhi is launching ‘Sci-Tech Spins.’ Professors will share their findings in science, technology, and related subjects with students. The lectures will be informal and interactive, with the goal of piqueing students’ attention.

IIT-Delhi is initiating a series of weekend lectures and laboratory demos for high school students called “Sci-Tech Spins,” in which professors will engage with students and share their research in science, technology, and related subjects.

The lectures will take students on “brief, yet compelling spins” into the fascinating world that surrounds us, according to the institute. The lectures will be informal and interactive, with the goal of piqueing students’ attention.

On September 11, P.V. Madhusudan Rao, Head, Department of Design, IIT-Delhi, will conduct the first lecture, titled ‘Design Thinking – A Powerful Tool for Problem Solving,’ which will be followed by a lab demonstration.

Taking the initiative

The institution stated that it receives numerous requests from schools for campus visits, workshops, and mentorship programs for their kids on a regular basis, and that it takes a proactive approach to academic outreach for schools.

“We not only want to provide education to students who come to IIT-Delhi, but we also want to interact with thousands of other students who are outside the IIT system and inspire and help them in any manner possible,” said V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT-Delhi. Sci-Tech Spins aspires to collaborate with every school in the country.”

IIT-Delhi will offer the opportunity to kids in Grades 9 and up who have been nominated by their respective schools for Sci-Tech Spins. Up to four pupils from each school may be nominated.

At the end of each weekend session, all enrolled students who attended the lectures will get e-certificates of participation. They will also be invited to IIT-annual Delhi’s event Open House, an intellectual festival that allows school kids to interact with some of the world’s finest scientists and technologists.
