IIIT-Bhagalpur will develop course materials in Hindi for engineering students from rural areas who have had limited exposure to the English language. The initiative was taken in response to a survey of students experiencing difficulties in technical institutions across the country and a subsequent recommendation by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Ministry of Education of the Government of India to introduce a Hindi language course for at least one year in higher educational institutions.
Dr. Prof Arvind Choubey, director of IT-Bhagalpur, stated that faculty members and resource persons were preparing the course curriculum in Hindi. “It’s a difficult task, given the difficulty of translating technical terms and explanations into Hindi. Additionally, we are attempting to provide online Hindi lessons to assist students, “‘He stated.
It should be noted here that the Delhi Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, according to Article 343 of the Constitution, has been lobbying for the introduction of Hindi language study for at least one year at the country’s higher educational level institutions and petitioned the Prime Minister in March 2021.
The PMO submitted the matter to the Ministry of Education. Following consultations with experts and academics, a directive was issued on September 21, 2021, mandating the immediate implementation of Hindi courses in higher educational institutions.
In reference, Dr. Prof Choubey stated that IIIT-Bhagalpur was likely the first institution in the country to introduce Hindi in technical colleges.
