JNCASR announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Professor CNR Rao on receiving the International Eni Award 2020 for his work on renewable energy sources and energy storage.
Institute says Eni Prize regarded Nobel Prize in energy research, and the award will be handed on October 14 based on this statement.
Research on hydrogen as the sole source of energy for the benefit of humankind has been carried out by Prof Rao. Hydrogen storage, photochemical and electrochemical production, solar generation, and non-metallic catalysis are his most notable accomplishments. He also works on hydrogen storage.
Graphene, boron-nitrogen-carbon hybrid materials, and molybdenum sulfide (Mo$2) for energy applications and green hydrogen production were among the materials recognized by the JNCASR.
In a letter dated October 4, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Rao and said that the prize was another honor of Rao’s “indefatigable contributions towards pioneering research in the Field.”
“The prize has done the nation proud and will inspire generations of young scientists and also develop the spirit of scientific inquiry in the hearts and minds of youth,” the JNCASR said in a statement, quoting the letter..
To that end, a gala celebration of the Eni Award winners is being planned for November 18 at the Presidential Palace in Rome, known as the “Palazzo del Quirinale.” Rao’s prize will be accepted on his behalf by the Indian Ambassador to Italy, Neena Malhotra.
