iHub-Data, a data center at the IIIT Hyderabad, gives scholarships to women who want to take a 36-week online course on the Foundations of Modern Machine Learning (FMML) starting in January 2022. Women who are currently enrolled in undergraduate programs at the B Tech level will be given scholarships that cover 50% of the course fee.

Prof U Deva Priyakumar, the Academic Head of iHub-Data, says that the scheme aims to empower women students, especially those from rural areas, to join and finish high-tech training courses at low prices. There are many things that iHub-Data wants to do to get more people from rural areas and more women into high-tech research fields. The first class on FMML had almost 50 percent of its students be girls. They are doing very well. Prof. Deva: “We want to improve this ratio because some of these niche deep-tech training areas are ideal for women.”

The last day to sign up for the course is December 25, 2021. It will start in January 2022. The 36-week course is meant to help undergraduates who want to go on to get a 4-year engineering degree in CSE, ECE, or EEE, as well as other fields, get better training, find jobs, and go on to get a master’s degree. Prof CV Jawahar, Prof Anoop M Namboodiri, and Prof Ravi Kiran S run the course at IIIT Hyderabad. They are all well-known professors who have made important contributions to this field.

The institute would give participants who finish the program a Certificate of Merit. General candidates will have to pay Rs 10,000 for the course, but for all eligible women, the fee will be Rs 5,000. (inclusive of all taxes).
