Suzuki, Japan, has Joined IIT-H for its Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Center

Suzuki Corporation of Japan has decided to set up its Innovation Center at IIT-H. This will be the first one outside of Japan. Research and innovation parks will be built on about 1.5 million square feet each. This will help startups.

At a press conference at the institute on Tuesday, B.S. Murty, the director of IIT-H, said that several businesses are interested in setting up research centers on the campus. This could benefit both the businesses and the students, he said. As soon as next month, the institute will develop rules to help people come up with new things.

There is a lot of focus on making sure students are ready to work in the field when they finish college and graduate school. He said that a research park and an innovation park, each about 1.5 million square feet, will help startups and new ideas. The parks will have about 1.5 million square feet each.

It will also plan to teach rural youth from some villages how to improve their skills. The IITH is also thinking about taking diploma students and giving them courses that last one, two, and three years. They will be given certificates, advanced certificates, and degrees.

The institute has given engineering schools support. Agreements have been made with BVRIT, GITAM, and Malla Reddy Engineering College.

A language expert helped them make nanomaterials based on Sanskrit scriptures, and Mr. Murty said that the Sanskrit language is being taught to students interested in learning more about it. They were able to make nanomaterial with the help of an expert. About 100 students are learning the language.

A question asked him about the National Education Policy. As part of this, inter-disciplinary Ph.Ds are being given out.

When he talked about the second phase of construction at IIT-H, Mr. Murty said that it would be done by 2023, and by then, there would be about 5,000 students and 500 faculty members at the school. A scholarship of 60,000 Indian rupees a month is also offered to bright international students who want to come to the institute. They will also be given a grant of 1 lakh rupees to buy research materials.
