The audit panel said that the IITs should keep an eye on the number of faculty members available and find people who are good enough to fill the positions.
The report said that people didn’t sign up for post-graduate (PG) programs at all eight IITs.
“Five IITs didn’t set a limit on how many students could take Ph.D. courses. The rest of the schools had a shortage of students taking these courses. IITs had vacancies in faculty positions, which would make it hard for IITs to provide high-quality education. In addition, the number of students from reserved groups who went to most IITs was meager.
“Also, it was found that all of the IITs got very little money from non-government sources to fund research projects. Thus, they were still relying on the government for money to pay for their research.
