In the morning of Friday, Ankur Bhatia passed away.
Known for his business acumen and interests in travel and hospitality, the 48-year-old “was suddenly taken ill this morning and later died.”
The group said in a statement: “We have lost an extraordinary human being, as well as our leader and visionary. It is a shock to the entire Bhatia family.”
Amadeus itself was introduced to the Indian subcontinent by Bhatia in 1994. In India and the UK, he started the luxury hospitality chain Roseate Hotels & Resorts.
Smriti Bhatia, his architect wife, and their two children Arnav and Saina survive him.
Ankur was a business visionary, an entrepreneur, a visionary at heart who loved the travel, tourism, hospitality and aviation industries. He was a kind, polite, energetic, visionary who was loved by all.
