NABI’s new advanced high-resolution microscopy facility is inaugurated by Dr. Harsh Vardhan in Mohali

Minister of State (Independent Charge), Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will inaugurate the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute’s (NABI’s) Param Smriti Advanced Supercomputing Facility. Dr. Harsh Vardhan also unveiled the CIAB Lab’s 4 Star GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) Certification.

Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will inaugurate NABI’s new advanced high-resolution microscopy facility in Mohali, Punjab, as part of the National Supercomputing Mission. Union Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, inaugurated the facility at NABI’s National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI). The 4 Star GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) Certification of the Center for Innovative & Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) Lab was also unveiled by Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology.

“labs should not be the only place it happens when it comes to research,” said Dr. Harsh Vardhan.

Regarding food quality and malnutrition, Dr. Harsh Vardhan urged scientists and students to use biotechnological tools to solve the problem.

He urged both organizations to focus on hunger and malnutrition as a priority. He also mentioned a nutritional revolution in India. NABI and CIAB are independent research institutes within the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Department of Biotechnology.

The roles of NABI and CIAB are critical if the ambitious target of doubling farmer income by 2022-23 is to be met.
