Tata Power and IIT-Delhi will work together on clean energy projects from the R&D to the pilot stage

Tata Power and IIT-Delhi have signed an agreement to collaborate on sustainable energy and other initiatives that can be taken from research and development to the pilot stage. A memorandum of understanding was inked to cooperate on EV infrastructure, artificial intelligence, machine learning, hydrogen technologies, and battery energy storage systems. It has been agreed that Tata Power and IIT-Delhi will look into the feasibility of establishing a Tata Power Virtual Centre of Excellence.. A joint effort with the Clean Energy International Incubation Centre (CEIIC) to incubate and develop startups is also a goal of both parties.

IIT-Delhi has signed an agreement to collaborate with Tata Power on sustainable energy and other initiatives that can be taken from the R&D stage to a pilot phase.

A company statement said, ” there has been an MoU struck between Tata Power and the Indian Institute of Technologies (IIT) Delhi to collaborate in areas such as smart grid technology and renewable energy solutions. Tata Power is one of India’s leading private sector integrated utilities.

With so much expertise at IIT-Delhi and Tata Power, there’s a lot of potential for collaboration between academics, researchers, and corporate domain experts that might have a huge impact.

For example, in EV infrastructure, AI, AI-based systems, hydrogen technologies, battery energy storage, monitoring and sensing solutions, and microgrids, the two institutions have agreed to work together to identify projects that can be transformed from the R&D stage to pilot projects and scaled.

According to a press release from IIT-Delhi Director V. Ramgopal Rao, the relationship has been fruitful “Tata Power and India’s premier research institute, IIT Delhi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). There is a good chance this collaboration will lead to the development of new energy sector technologies that will benefit the production and distribution of electricity.”

Tata Power CEO and MD Praveer Sinha stated, “At Tata Power, we’ve always prioritized bringing cutting-edge, environmentally friendly power sector innovations to market. The partnership with IIT-Delhi, a prestigious institution, fills us with great joy. We are convinced that this collaboration will serve as a testing ground for cutting-edge energy technology and boost the country’s clean energy ecosystem.”

Recently, Tata Power has established a company-wide culture of creativity and entrepreneurship to encourage its staff to come up with new ideas for energy products and new ways to provide customers with those products and services.

As part of their agreement, Tata Power and IIT-D will look into the prospect of creating a Tata Power Virtual Centre of Excellence to complement and enhance the numerous technologies, labs, and infrastructure already in place at each other’s campuses.

Both parties are also seeking a joint effort between the Clean Energy International Incubation Centre (CEIIC) and the Startup Infrastructure at IIT-Delhi to investigate synergies.

With more than 100 national and international technology partners in the clean energy field, Tata Power has worked with them to produce low-cost, scalable solutions through its collaboration, innovation, and R&D division to date.
