Applications are open for the IIT-Mandi Startup Challenge; winners will receive Rs 5 lakh

On December 11 and 12, the Himalayan Startup Trek (HST) will be held at IIT Mandi. There is a chance for entrepreneurs to win up to Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 50 lakh in funding. Prize money of up to INR 2 Lakhs will be awarded to the top three startups in each of the six categories.

On December 11 and 12, the Himalayan Startup Trek (HST) will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. For the fifth time in its history, the IIT Business Incubator will hold the HST 2021-HST Startup Grand Challenge, which will award cash prizes totaling Rs 2 lakh to the winners in the New Age Alliance – Human-Computer Interaction category, Rs 1.25 lakh to the winners in the Foothill Innovators Challenge – Build for the Himalayas category, and Rs 2 lakh in the Habitable World Challenge – Environment and Sustainability category.

The deadline for submitting an application is November 25. Interested candidates can apply on the official website, iitmandicatalyst.in/hst, by filling out the online application form.

Startups and innovators have the opportunity to win up to Rs 5 lakhs in cash and Rs 50 lakhs in financing. The top three startups in each thematic area will share prize money of up to INR 2 lakhs. In addition, top startups will receive incubation support and funding access for prototyping and product development through various funding schemes hosted by Catalyst and providing up to INR 50 Lakh of funding,” an IIT Mandi release stated.

Professor Puran Singh, Catalyst faculty-in-charge at IIT Mandi, said, “HST has been the gateway for startups from across the country to Catalyst’s incubation program.” HST has added a new feature this year: a startup grand challenge based on a specific theme. We’re putting resources and expertise into these three areas, and we’re going to select only the most promising startups for our assistance,” he says.
