There has been a meeting between India’s Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Eric Lander, the president’s science adviser. They talked about improving the two countries’ science and technology ties and how they could work together more.

Healthcare, technology, space earth and ocean science, energy and new technologies were some topics discussed at the meeting on Friday. They also talked about how to work together on Science &technology education. We talked about improving the India-US partnership in science and technology, which is a top priority for both countries leaders. Sandhu said this in a tweet after meeting Lander.

Dr. Lander is the 11th Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy and President’s Science Advisor. He is also on the Cabinet in both roles. Lander is also a mathematician and a geneticist.

Previously, Lander was a professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and he was a professor of systems biology at Harvard Medical School.

Health care makes the meeting important. Lander is a master of genomics, molecular biology, and math and physics. Scientists in India have been working with him for a long time. He helped start the International Disease Alliance and the Map to Mechanism to Medicine concept, which are important parts of his work in India. People from India and the United States are meeting at the same time. This comes after the two countries worked together to make Covid-19 vaccines and medicines cheaper. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on health and medical sciences in October 2021. People from the two countries have been working very hard together in science and technology for a long time now. Satellite: The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar is set to launch in 2023; the Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Centers are expanding; India is a major partner in the U.S.’s particle physics and accelerator lab, Fermilab, which is called Fermilab. There is also a lot of communication between India’s Department of Science and Technology and the National Science Foundation from the United States.

To improve India and the United States’ relationship in science and technology, Sandhu has been meeting with many senior administration officials. This is what he wants to do. Sandhu also talked to Geraldine Richmond, the Under Secretary of Energy for Science, in addition to Prof. Lander, who he met. She is in charge of the Department of Science and Technology. He talked about the projects that are still going on with her. Another part of the outreach has been to connect American and Indian institutions and students in science and technology so that they can learn from each other. There was an Education Roundtable that took place last year, and there were a lot of universities that were focused on STEM there.
